Making Good Crispy Treats
Everyone should use browned butter when they make Rice Krispie treats. It adds a rich, nutty, gourmet flavor. Along with a pinch of salt to balance the sweet marshmallows, you will make great treats. But they won't be like ours. A splash of vanilla adds flavor to your treats, because marshmallows are just sweet, but not tasty.
Melting marshmallow?
Marshmallows are an inflated syrup held together with gelatin, egg whites, or other vegan options. When a marshmallow is melted, it loses the air that made it fluffy. Melted marshmallow = flat treats. Adding mini-marshmallow with the cereal improves the texture, but.. you can't make it fluffy, you can't make fluffy treats. We can. We make our own marshmallow.
